Az én VAZ-
My VAZ has an interesting story. To start, it is not a LADA but a VAZ. That means that it is not an export model. It is a VAZ 21033. The car had a very lucky start to its life. It was won in a lottery called “sprint” in 1982 by a lucky woman in Odessa. The woman had dreams that she purchased 3 lottery tickets and won a car for many years. She decided to test her luck one day when she had exactly 3 rubles in her pocket. She purchased 3 tickets and won the VAZ from the first ticket. The Luck did not end there. In about 30 years after this occurred, I found the car in Odessa for sale. I purchased it right away and started to fix it up. I never had a plan to restore it or to even bring it to New York. After I realized that I could bring it to New York, we decided to restore it. Unfortunately the paint was done already and there was not enough time to fix the turn signals. To recap this story, the car that I own is now living in New York, USA. It is a VAZ 21033 that was won in a Soviet lottery for one ruble. This Lucky woman gave me the paperwork to prove it! The car is taken care of very much. It is pampered in the heated garage that it lives in. The car is always clean and dry. To make it as authentic as possible, all the parts that needed to be replaced were replaced to parts made in the USSR. I tried to keep the car as perfect as I could keep it. As time passes, I will repaint the car and change the turn signals. Although they are a big problem, they are the only piece on the car that is not authentic. Parts in the USA are impossible to find. For parts, I call my friend from the Club and he kindly helps me. Many parts that I get are shipped directly from Odessa, Ukraine. Although it may not be a rare car in some countries, that VAZ 21033 that I own is the only one of its kind in the USA.
